Saoirse Domestic Violence Services and Sisters Shed receive funding to support integration in South Dublin

A total of 20 projects in Dublin have received over €95,000 in funding for integration projects, a Fine Gael Minister has said.

The Communities Integration Fund has made a total of €509,791 available to support local community-based organisations nationwide to play a greater role in welcoming and integrating migrants and refugees.

Minister for Business, Employment and Retail Emer Higgins said, “I am pleased to be able today to confirm funding announcements for my area of Dublin Mid West aimed at supporting local communities to successfully welcome new arrivals in a way that works with and for those arriving and the communities welcoming them.

“The fund enables community-based organisations across Ireland to build on their vital work in reaching out to and helping to integrate migrants into local communities.

“I am glad to see such clear success for projects in our area and I am confident that these initiatives will continue to grow and positively impact both newcomers and long-time residents.

“The funding for Saoirse Domestic Violence Services and Sisters Shed, which has a location in Adamstown, will play a key role in ensuring that our community remains inclusive and supportive, providing the necessary resources for these projects to thrive and make a difference.

“Dublin Mid West has played a full role in helping migrants who are fleeing war and dictators in their home countries. It is essential that all local areas are fully informed and consulted before any future decision are made for these areas as local services can often be under immense strain. We have played our part and will continue to do so.

“In the meantime, I would like to commend the hard work of all the local organisations and volunteers involved. This funding is a testament to our shared values, and I look forward to seeing the continued success of these projects in Dublin”, Higgins concluded.
